It’s time to unleash the powers of imagination and learning! Superhero-themed activities are a brilliant way to inspire confidence, teamwork, and creativity while helping children to develop across the Areas of Learning in the EYFS and towards the Early Learning Goals.

These fun and engaging superhero activities for EYFS will keep little heroes excited and motivated while they develop essential skills.

Activity 1: Create Your Own Superhero Costume

Provide capes, masks, and colourful materials like fabric scraps, paper, and stickers for children to design their own superhero outfits. Let them decide their superhero name and superpower to complete their character.

Activity 2: Superhero Training Obstacle Course

Set up a fun obstacle course with tunnels to crawl through, beams to balance on, and hoops to jump into. Include tasks like “saving” a stuffed toy or “dodging” imaginary villains for added excitement.

Activity 3: Design a Superhero Shield

Give children paper plates or cardboard, crayons, paints, and glitter to create their own superhero shield. Encourage them to think about what their shield might protect them from or represent, like courage or kindness.

Read superhero-themed books like Supertato or Max and encourage the children to create their own stories too. They can role-play superhero scenes or draw storyboards of their superhero adventures.

Activity 5: Rescue the Superhero Friends

Hide toy figures or objects around the room and pretend they’re trapped by villains.

Let the children become superheroes and rescue their friends by solving puzzles, navigating obstacles, or following clues.

For some added challenge, wrap the toy figures in foil before you hide them. As the children rescue their friends, they then have to free the toys from the foil the ‘villains’ wrapped them in.

Activity 6: Superhero Counting Game

Use superhero toys, figures, or flashcards to create a simple counting or sorting activity. Children can group superheroes by colour, size, or type and count how many are in each group.
